- We have been made aware that scamsters are using Internet based accommodation sites such as Studentpad to contact landlords. They are acting as potential tenants, sending cheques to landlords for greater amounts than the actual deposit to secure a property and requesting the difference be returned to them before their own cheque has cleared. Their own cheques are then bouncing. We would advise landlords to be extra vigilant when approached this way.
